JUAN CARRAU Tannat / Cabernet

HISTORY
These Juan Carrau Great Reserves wines are produced with high quality grapes, harvested at the optimum moment of maturity with low yields, resulting in a highly concentrated wine.

REGION
Las Violetas, Canelones, Uruguay

VARIETAL COMPOSITION
50% Tannat / 30% Cabernet Sauvignon / 20% Cabernet Franc

WINEMAKING
Destemmed and crushed from previously selected bunches harvested by hand. Fermentation lasted 14 days at 22-25ºC in stainless steel tanks. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, it was racked to 50% American and 50% French oak barrels, where the spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurred, and the wine rested there for 18 months. It was then aged in the bottle for an additional year in our cellars.

TASTING NOTE
Aged red wine. Intense ruby red in color with violet reflections. Aromas of red fruits, prunes, quinces and violets. Notes of black pepper, tobacco and chocolate define the aroma. A complex wine on the palate, which shows the ripe tannins of Tannat making it ideal to accompany red meats and pasta. Serve at 18ºC.
